$5.00

Davana essential oil is dark yellow, amber or reddish brown and viscous yet mobile. It has a rich, fruity, sweet and balsamic scent that also features a deeper earthy note. As noted above, the essential oil content of the plant is highest upon the full emergence of flower heads. The oil is present primarily in the leaves and flowers although the entire plant may be used for distillation purposes. The major constituents of Davana oil are davanone, davan-ether, davana furane and linalool. Other constituents include methyl cinnamate, ethyl
cinnamate, bicyclogermacrene, 2-hydroxyisodavanone, farnesol, geranyl acetate, sequiterpene lactones and germacranolides.

Aside from the use of the essential oil in Spiritual PhytoEssencing and aromatherapy, Davana oil is widely used in perfumery. Also, it is used as a flavoring in cakes, pastries, tobacco and alcoholic beverages.
