Spiritual PhytoEssencing Repertory of Essential Oils

Dr. Berkowsky’s Spiritual PhytoEssencing (SPE) Repertory of Essential Oils is a reference manual used help a blender identify potentially relevant essential oils for inclusion in a customized essential oil blend. The Repertory is an index of constitutional archetypes and qualities, reactional tendencies, mental, emotional and physical symptoms, dreams and more.

All of these are categorically arranged in a highly organized way so that users can efficiently conduct their searches for relevant oils. The Repertory is divided into three sections, each with an alphabetical listing of qualities and symptoms:

Section 1: General: archetypes, personal qualities and symptoms that apply to both the physical and the mental/emotional spheres (e.g., Earth element, 4 th chakra, etc.); Section 2: Mental/Emotional/Dreams: archetypes, personal qualities and symptoms that apply to the mental, emotional and dream spheres
Section 3: Physical: archetypes, personal qualities and symptoms that apply to the physical sphere

The Spiritual PhytoEssencing (SPE) Repertory of Essential Oils also features specific oil correspondences including zodiac signs, chakras, colors, gemstones, numerological associations, Kabbalah Tree of Life vessels.

Every listed quality or symptom category (referred to as a rubric) has a varying number of essential oils listed in association with it (see below). Dr. Berkowsky continually makes additions to the Repertory. The current version contains over 2500 rubrics.

The following excerpt from The Spiritual PhytoEssencing (SPE) Repertory of Essential Oils provides examples of rubrics and how they are arranged.

Once a list of potentially relevant essential oils has been developed through the process of repertorization, each of those oils on that list is then examined closely via a review of the relevant essential oil chapter in Berkowsky’s Synthesis Materia Medica/Spiritualis of Essential Oils . In other words, if clove oil, eucalyptus oil, patchouli oil, etc. occur repeatedly in the rubrics one has used to develop a list of potential oils, then the blender reviews the Clove, Eucalyptus, Patchouli, etc. chapters to be able to make an informed determination as to whether or not that oil qualifies for inclusion in the customized blend.

Thus, the process of oil selection begins with The Spiritual PhytoEssencing (SPE) Repertory of Essential Oils and ends with Berkowsky’s Synthesis Materia Medica/Spiritualis of Essential Oils. The Repertory and the Synthesis Materia Medica/Spiritualis of Essential Oils complement one another and in Spiritual PhytoEssencing are always used in concert.
